The author worked for Melody Maker for many years and has previously published books on Madonna, Ozzy Osbourne and Hawkwind... would that make The Pogues an obvious next choice?

Carol Clerk has been working on her book about the Pogues for some time. It is not an "official" biography but we have all been quite forthcoming with our time.

The blurb on Amazon is clearly based on long out of date info - ah, Google! - and was researched by the office cat.

Pogue Mahone Kiss My Ass (Hardcover)

Carol Clerk

Product Details

Hardcover: 352 pages
Publisher: Omnibus Press (October 9, 2006)
ISBN: 1846090083

This October, Omnibus Press is publishing Pogue Mahone: Kiss my Arse, a new book on the Pogues by Carol Clerk. It's already on Amazon:

"Author, Carol Clerk interviews Shane MacGowan, Spider Stacy, Jem Finer, Andrew Ranken, James Fearnley and Cait O'Riordan, who tell their story where it all started, in the streets and pubs of London's Kings Cross. She also interviews the managers, agents, label bosses, film-makers, producers, promoters, PRs,journalists, friends and fans, who tell of a fiercely loyal group of friends. We read of their arguments and drunken spats, their love affairs, the marriage of Cait and Elvis Costello, the death of Kirsty MacColl, the illnesses, the drugs, the sackings, the legal actions and above all, the over-riding passion for music."
