Sorry I couldnt private message you it kept denying it as spam
I just found out that you are FINALLY coming to Australia! you probably wouldnt remember but i posted on here back in 2006 that i went to see a concert in NYC and ended up being drugged, missing the concert, and waking up in a hospital on a drip with no recollection of the night. You said to get in touch if you were in my neck of the woods so here i am! still a huge fan and psyched to see you in Sydney!

Cheers
Alice Winn-Dix

Alice, please remind me again - preferably over in the OZ 2012 thread - at the start of April and I'll be happy to arrange this for you and a companion.

Phil that would be AMAZING!

Alice, I've Private Messaged you. In case it doesn't arrive, it just confirms yourself and a friend (a Plus One) on the guest list of the Sydney show. Enjoy the gig.

That's not THE Alice Winn-Dix is it???? The famous Geography teacher from Sydney???? Can't be

The guest list queue at that show will be like a scene from The Life Of Brian.....

"I'm Alice!"
"No!! I'm Alice"
"Look, i'm Alice, and so is my wife!"

A Cháirde, while you're rockin to some of the best music the world has ever heard and being lulled by Shane's mysterious beauty, please try to think of a fellow Irish woman who is currently being subjected to horrific human rights abuses in a British gaol.

We will protest her internment and torture at the British consulate on Thursday, 22 March at 12.30. Please consider supporting this fight for Marian Price's life.

Tugaim buíochas leat roimh ré as do chabhair.
Claire

Speakout: Free Marian Price
‎22 March at 11:30 at British Consulate, 1 Eagle St, Brisbane

More information:

Brisbane Speakout: Free Marian Price
Thursday March 22, 12:30pm
Outside British Consulate
1 Eagle St, Brisbane

Since May 15, 2011, Marian Price has been illegally incarcerated by the British in the north of Ireland. She was held for nine months in solitary confinement in the all-male Maghaberry prison before being moved to Hydebank women's prison hospital due to frail health. In 1973, Marian was imprisoned for seven years by the British and tortured as a political prisoner and is facing the same kind of torture now.

She was arrested last year after holding a piece of paper for a masked man at an annual Easter Rising commemoration in Derry. The judge granted her bail on that charge. Then, a few days later the unelected British Secretary of State for Northern Ireland, Owen Paterson revoked her release from prison on so-called "license". So called because in fact Marian received a Royal Prerogative of Mercy after her release from prison in 1980 (in other words, a pardon). Conveniently, this original pardon document is believed to have been shredded.

Marian is 57-years old and suffering from various health conditions that she developed as a consequence of her years as a political prisoner - which are being exacerbated dangerously by the torture she is again facing.

For private, family reasons, Andrew Ranken will not be with us in Tokyo or Australia. We have been fortunate to secure the services of Bob Knight instead. Bob is the brother of James Knight, who has played sax with us before and was Kirsty's partner at the time of her death. We welcome Bob aboard!

What about New Zealand, there are 800000 New Zealanders who claim Irish ancestry nearly 20% of our population? We have many many Pogue fans here? Surely we qualify for at least 1 concert.

There are 800000 New Zealanders? Really.

If you leave something to be signed backstage 30 mins before the show - ask for the Pogues' Production Office - hopefully Zoe or one of her many minions will get it back to you by prior arrangement. It's a tricky business with 8 people in the band, each with his own valet and chauffeur, but it's been known to happen. Me, I'd just forge 'em.
