Good show. I was able to unload the two tickets I got stuck with, but for a 50% loss. That's ok.
Early on, before teh shows, there was a drunk guy there by himself, also named Eric.....he was a prick and wanted to be my buddy, so I got the hell out of there for a while. Last thing I need is drunken Eric spilling his G&T all over me or worse. So, as I'm outside selling my tickets this guy is brought outside by the security staff. He's all "but I just want to watch the show" ..."what's the problem?!" .... and then to my surprise, they cook up this story about how he bought weed just around the corner and there was officer friendly ready to talk to the guy. Frankly I think he was framed. But again, he was being a drunken prick.
Urban Voodoo Machine was interesting. At first I can't say I liked them a whole lot, but they grew on me, and by the time they left the stage I'd say they had the crowd in front of the stage, and I liked them enough to want to see them again sometime. Most of the Pogues came out to the side stage balcony to see about half of their set. They were either appreciating the talent, or giving them the old "hey isn't it about time you guys were clearing out!??" -- I think it was the former.
The Pogues were great, as usual. The crowd was fairly mellow, but clapped and yelled and sang, and a few people jumped around a little. I was a few people away from the front rail, in front of Spider. Thought of shouting out to Philip, but figured he wouldn't hear me anyway. You have read the set list. There were a bunch of people making "jokes" about how drunk Shane was. They all yucked it up, but when they called out a few remarks to the stage I felt embarrassed. I got out of the front ranks during Rainy Night in Soho. Paddy and Fiesta were fun, fun, fun ... Bought one of the new map theme tour shirts. Quite nice. Ended up riding the metro back with a small group of people from the show. See you in B'more.
