I couldn't find any discernable difference the many times I played it. Though, I'm not responsible for mixing this stuff, so maybe I'm missing something.

It's just one of those things, like "London Girl" on The Rest Of The Best Of The Pogues, when the wrong tape somehow found its way into the cutting room. In this case, I don't think Costello had quite decided on mixes.

It would make sense for it to be a different mix actually, coz unless I'm mistaken the 'Sally Mac' single was released only a few weeks after 'Rum' was recorded, so maybe it's a 'rough mix' Costello got together quickly to add to the single rather than the finished album version he would have had more time with?
