OK! Prague it is. You know, I've been kvetching for weeks deciding on this chunk of itinerary, and I just needed a little KathleenwithaK-ick in my butt to get going. Thanks!

I'm thinking 4 nights (3 full days), staying somewhere in Praha 1. I like being in the middle of town.

Enough time, you think? I have some time leeway, but 4 full days is about as far as I can go.

Hey Lil'C, Zuzana helped me remember the name of my hotel http://www.clementin.cz/ Smack in the middle of where you want to be. Really nice, helpful staff. You can walk everywhere you want to go from there. Enjoy!

Thanks for the tip, KWAK (can I call you KWAK? :) or do you prefer KwaK??).

I'll add that to the short list. I dig those cool small hotels; sometimes I enjoy the anonymity of the Big Boxes (where the rate is right!), but a truly personal European-style hotel is something else indeed, and a rare treasure nearly unknown in the US. So I'm also looking at the Santini and a few other places.

3 full days, but that's it. (11.04.2008-15.04.2008 as is stands).

Well, that's four nights of assorted alcoholic adventures, anyway!

I can't wait to get there!!!

...and how was it?

When I went to HOB Disney a few months ago to see The Boys, I remember ambulating in the direction of Downtown, and walking towards me (leaving Disney) were loads of jumping, energized kids accompanied by wringed-out, zombie parents, looking dead-dog tired. I was thinking "Man, I'm glad I'm not those parents" and "Dammit, why couldn't I have been one of those kids?"

For all current and future Prague visitors, here is a handy site with info about accomodation in the centre of the city:
http://www.a-praha.com/mapa
It shows big hotels as well as small pensions, and if you click on the signs of the hotels in the map, you get info about prices, photos, booking info, visitors' reviews and an overview of the distances to the most popular sightseeing places.

Little Cupcakes, hope four nights of assorted alcoholic adventures (AAA) will not turn you into AA client. Maybe I should better get ready to buy you a pint of juice... ;)

Well, I leapt right in and dubbed you Lil'C and you did not complain, so KwaK doesn't seem so off base. Enjoy good beer, good food, spectacular history, crazy art and nice locals! I myself will be off to Scotland, so if anyone has advice I would be an appreciative recipient of valuable information.

You should definitely include a couple of days in Edinburgh, it´s a beautiful city and it´s especially atmospheric walking around the Old Town at dusk.

Why do the Pogues torture us like this?

Post Thu Mar 20, 2008 9:25 pm

Today we continued the Freedom Trail here in Boston and visited the Old State House, USS Constitution (Old Ironsides), Old North Church and Paul Revere's house. It has been rainy and windy here making it a little chilly. Our 5 year old Jamaica asked "Why do the Pogues torture us like this?" in reference to making us come to Boston before the warmth of spring. I was unable to give her a good reason as to why the Pogues are so mean to us...
And I don't want no grave
Just throw my ashes in the field
And hope there's some soul left to save

Wish I could just pop over to Italy...

4 more months until I'm off on my European hot rod tour starting in Belgium.

My friends have scared me about the state of the roadside food in Sweden. Guess I'll be loosing some weight.

What exactly is a European hot rod tour? EU hot rods? USA hot rods? racing? Derby? Car shows?
