My buddy just called me from the Denver show. I heard a bit of Kitty and the report is that Shane sounds great tonight. 8)

Dang. White City and Transmetropolitan gone already? Well now the rest of the shows will be interesting to see what does and does not appear.

I usually try to get in at least 2 shows per tour but couldn't manage it this time. Bummed now because every show seems to be a unique and beautiful snowflake!

They may reappear if Shane learns them.

Phillip:

I admit I was disappointed in no "White City," but your explanation made me smile. That's a crazy sweater Shane's wearing too.

So you're saying the Pogues have never played Denver? I was surprised by your comment last night of taking 30 years to get there. Wow.

So glad y'all came. The show was awesome and the crowd was very into it. Denver loves the Pogues.

Talked to my buddy this afternoon who phoned from the Denver show last night. Rave review. Shane was wearing what my buddy described as his baggy Lemur sweater and Ray-Bans all night. James in shiny red. KC in approx. 31 hrs 15 min. 8)

Absolutely freaking brilliant! Awesome crowd and the best sounding show I have seen in a long time. Shane was tops and so was the whole band! Thank you soooo much.

Out-fooking-standing! I drop in here to keep track of the band's (heretofore, distant) travels, and many of us never really thought that we'd be standing a few feet from both the Pogues and the legendary Colfax Ave! The aptly-named Irish Rover on Broadway actually organized a bus to the concert.

I had predicted on my blog that tears would flow as "Thousands" was played, but it took less time than that. As the band launched into the blistering main body of "Young Ned", a hail of those glow stick thingies, beer cups and the glittering, trailing plumes of the blessed beverage they had held filled the air, and there were tears on my cheeks. At that moment I was as happy as I've been in years, and I'll remember it all my life.

I can't recall a single disappointment with the show as it stood (oh sure, "White City", 'Fairytale", natch). The band was out of its mind, Shane was in strong voice and chatty. Addendum to the previous comment about his Ray-Bans: they did in fact, come off briefly during "Old Main Drag" where the singer complains that they "messed up my good looks"- priceless!

I was unprepared for the barely contained chaos that was "Fiesta", in which one of humankind's nobler inventions, the beer tray, gave its life. I got to sing along to "Dirty Old Town" and "Streams of Whiskey", and did in fact raise a glass to JFK, and 8 musicians besides. I can now slide contentedly into middle age, though if you fellas want to come back next year, I can easily put on my Docs and step back out.

A shout to the Cobras who put on a strong set in the difficult circumstance of a crowd waiting breathlessly for its first brush with Poguetry. As Rachel Nagy said in her parting exhortation, I did indeed "enjoy the f*ck out of the Pogues".

And another new title. I'm no longer just the king of computer morons, but now the schlep of multi-media. What do I click on?
Lovely picture of J.D. Wilkes though.
