Who said the Americans can bomb the moon anyway? It belongs to me just as much to them. Didn't they ask anyone else if it was ok?

Fuck it, man. If they can bomb wedding parties "harboring" "terror" "suspects", in Afghanistan with impunity, they can bomb the moon, trust me.

No. Everyone knows the last words to be spoken will be "Hey you guys! Watch this!"

Help with a stupid made up pub quiz

Post Tue Nov 03, 2009 8:27 pm

I'm having some American friends over my house Thursday to do a fireworks night/Guy Fawkes style party. As part of it, I wanted to do an English style pub quiz with joke sort of questions for them to answer. For example, my English friend at work came up with this one:-

What is spotted dick?
Answer:

A) a steamed, log-shaped suet pudding studded with currants
B) a fish with (believe it or not) spots
C) a medical condition
D) what you say when you see someone called Richard

Now there will be kids so I have to keep it a bit clean. And it has to be multiple choice as they won't have a clue about most English customs etc. Anyone got any ideas for questions?

Well, I'm not sure about Brittians  greatest prime minister, but I suspect it probably wasn't The Baroness. :)

Culture shock moment: Brendan Gleeson as Winston Churchill in Into The Storm. Not since Dominic West broke the hearts of McNulty-watchers everywhere by portraying Oliver Cromwell...................................

HA HA...yes I didn't really have a clue either. I have already been told by my husband this week that I am "scaring the neighbors" (they keep coming back for more though!) so I need to try to keep things a little tame!

Where Are The Songs of the Great Recession?
And I don't want no grave
Just throw my ashes in the field
And hope there's some soul left to save

That's an interesting article, thanks for the posting.
And you always get better protest songs under a right-wing government.
Which is, of course, the only thing to be said in favour of such a regime.

Oh, I always assumed it was simply because the right-wingers have no soul, so obviously can't go doing the music thing themselves.

Politics in the thread for undeserving things? What is the world coming to?

I know left wingers and I know right wingers in the US.
It does seem to me those in the UK are a different breed and of course we abide by different rules so I can't speak about them with any great knowledge except what I see and read from The Guardian or BBC.

This might be as close to what you'd get as a recession/protest song today in the US today.

Now everyone don't get ready to jump on me. I realise my UK friends might get upset with all the US flag waving in the lyrics. These aren't my words, I also stated clearly in the Healthcare thread I'm against the mixing of Church and State. (per the US Constitution) I was just looking for some current crisis protest songs.

You mean Ted Nugent and Hank Williams Jnr don't have the chops to "cry artistically"?
